An easeful conversation with Ayanna Nicole🌿 by The Easeful Place
How is your heart today? What is it speaking to you?
Before we get into today's letter, I want to start by offering a big THANK YOU for all the love and excitement received this week about the 'Return to Self' guided workbook. The genuine support and interest is heart-warming and something I can't wait to express in gratitude on June 7th (almost every day I question if I will cry when we meet and sit with these pages, tbc!) It’s always such a curious thing to launch a creative idea into the wild but when it is tied to your soul work, which I believe this is, it hits you at a deeper level of seeing why and how the work needed to be ushered into the world. So, thank you for the big belief(!), for your homecoming and for your open heart and journal.
We're all on a journey together, helping each other arrive with abundant storytelling and wisdom-sharing.
I personally cannot wait for the juicy and honest conversations that always come out of our gatherings. The guided journal launch event is Saturday June 7th, 2025.

As for today’s letter, we're joined by a woman who shares words and wisdoms plentifully and intimately in the world, and now in this space. We're welcoming Ayanna Nicole, an artist I have admired across the web for some time now and who has been a teacher in listening in to the call of a soul-led life in a world that only whispers about such a path. The Easeful Place is delighted to share Ayanna Nicole's interview feature with you all.
These interviews exist to inspire us on our journeys to creating the lives, communities, families, and inner environments needed to house ease. I select artists from around the world with different modes of creation and lifestyles to show how possible it is for us to build ease and art into our lives. The intention is to deepen our understanding of what is possible, to think limitlessly, in community.
In conversation with Ayanna Nicole
Who is Ayanna Nicole and what do you do?
It has been important, and equally empowering, to claim that I am a writer. Writing is the most authentic way through which my soul speaks. Though I have tried, I cannot detach from being a writer; it is infused in my essence. I’m also a visual artist where I prioritize the childlike joy of play and creating art for art’s sake. I am currently in the wonderful and terrifying discovery process of learning how to show up most authentically in this world with the creative gifts that fuel me.

What is your one-word manifesto/mantra in life?
Flow.
Surrender to the natural rhythm of life; trust in the current and where it is leading.

Who are your favourite artists?
I love dancing freely to Maribou State and similar soulful house/electronic music. I also deeply love the sensual sound of Snoh Aalegra and Raveena. In art, Vanja Vukelic’s vibrant watercolor paintings embody a feminine flow state and deep trust in the process of creation. A few poetry collections that I find myself returning to, again and again: Life on Mars by Tracy K. Smith and Devotions by Mary Oliver.

What or where is the most easeful place for you?
The easeful place is found in my center. It speaks to me softly through my heart, through the calm vibrations of my body. I arrive there when I am gentle, loving, and kind with myself, and my external world naturally reflects this. It is inner peace that expands through following my bliss.

How do you stay soft, heart-led while living in a world that doesn't promise to reflect it back?
I don’t know of another way to be. If I am not leading with my heart, I am acting from a place that is not my authentic self. I’ve been navigating a challenging life phase in recent years, and have experienced the entire range of emotions that threatened to make my heart callous. But I am always, always returning to that place of softness, that easeful place. I am learning how to alchemize my pain into light, and offering it to the world.

You are so worthy of ease. How do you remind yourself of this?
I remember that I am a divine being having a brief human experience. To be alive is a gift, if we allow it to be; if we take notice and focus our attention on what speaks to that deep, intuitive, eternal part of us. And that part of me, that divine center, wants me to experience joy and ease. When I hold it in my hands, even briefly, I am touching something sacred. And it reminds me that I am so worthy of holding it for a little longer.

Thank you for these precious reminders. How can we stay connected with you?
You can find me at soulremedies.substack.com and on Etsy.

Gratitude to Ayanna for such nourishing and deeply considered reflections on showing up with a full heart in creation and being. We’re glad to have your presence in The Easeful Place.
